Sniffers - Refrigeration

Refrigerant leak detectors, also known as refrigerant sniffers, help manufacturers and service technicians identify the source of refrigerant leaks. EPA regulations specify the amount of leakage that is acceptable. Once a refrigerant leak detector locates a leak, a decision can be made regarding retrofit, repair, or retirement of the system. If a decision to repair the system is made, refrigerant leak detectors can be used for initial and follow-up verification testing. Davis Instruments carries refrigerant leak detectors from leading manufacturers such as Bacharach and TIF. Sniffers use an audible beep or ticking noise to indicate the relative amount of a leak – the higher the amount of refrigerant, the quicker the signal. Some models include a visual indication of leak size. Adjustable sensitivity makes it easier to pinpoint the location of a leak.
