Turbine Flowmeters

There are many types of turbine flow meters. Turbine flow meters can work with both liquid and gas applications. There are turbine flow meters that offer low cost water meter solutions with accuracy typically around ±3% full scale, while other turbine flow meters offer high accuracy of ±1% or better. Davis Instruments' turbine flow meter selection encompasses a wide range of materials including low cost nylon and aluminum bodies to specialty options such as PVDF or stainless steel for more aggressive, higher temperature applications. Many of our turbine flow meters come with a wide range of digital displays and controllers including options for PC, PLC control or batch dispensing operation. How does a turbine flowmeter work? This mechanism includes a bladed rotor that is positioned along the centerline of the flow stream. The rotating component is designed to provide a pulse when passing either a magnetic or optical sensor. The frequency of the pulses is proportional to the velocity of the fluid. Some designs offer high levels of accuracy and can often handle slightly higher viscosity fluids than basic propeller-type designs.
