Water Quality Accessories

A conductivity cell measures the current that passes through the solution when a material is applied across two plates that are placed in a sample. When a conductivity cell becomes fouled or polarized, the surface must be renewed by cleaning the cell. If that does not work, the conductivity cell should be replaced. Some conductivity cells include a built-in temperature sensor to allow more accurate readings based on fluid temperature. Other sensor measuring instruments are Dissolved Oxygen (DO) probes. These are available in three main types. Galvanic and polarographic cells feature an anode, cathode, electrolyte solution, and a gas permeable membrane. Optical sensors incite fluorescence in a layer of material and correlate an oxygen concentration based on the effect of the oxygen on quenching the fluorescence.
