    • Q:

Is this electrode compatible with a pH meter Mettler Toledo S20?
Asked on 2/20/2014 by jesusmmerino from miami

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

This electrode will have a 2.5-mm mini-audio plug combined with a 30K thermistor for automatic temperature compensation input to our Oakton pH meters. This will be compatible with the following Oakton meters: handheld pH/Ion 5, 5+, 6, 6+, 11, 110 and benchtop 510, 700, 1100, 2100, and 2700.

This will not be the same connection that is used on the Mettler Toledo S20 meter as this will use a RCA connection. Options that re compatible are 27508-00 and 27508-04.

    • Q:

Can this be used for yogurt samples? If not which electrode is suitable?
      Asked on 1/23/2014 by Avanthi

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

This can be used to measure yogurt samples but this is not the best option as you may see issues with unstable readings or clogging of the electrode junction as this option is a single junction electrode. I would recommend at least using a double junction electrode that is refillable or a flushable junction electrode option such as catalog number 35805-09 or 05718-57.

    • Q:

What do you mean by single junction and double junction, a port for the probe and port for tempature probe.
Asked on 8/7/2013 by fsmall from pinellas county fl.

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

The reference to single and double junction refers to the internal components. Single junction probes are intended for use with simple water based liquids, where as double junction probes can be used with more complex solutions without being clogged.

    • Q:

Is this probe a good choice for checking ph of salt water solutions that are collected from a salt fog cabinet per specification ASTM B117?
Asked on 3/28/2013 by Jman the gageman

      1 answer

      • STAFF EXPERT

        A:

A double-junction probe is more suitable for salt water. 35811-72 is the double-junction version.

This product is very accurate and easy to use as long as you keep the probe end clean. I have found that swishing the probe in diluted detergent in 1 - 2 quarts of hot water works very well to extend the life of this probe... maybe up to 50% more. Big savings when they are used 40+ hrs a week.

The only "con" was the identification on the website. I made the mistake of thinking this was a pH and ORP replacement probe: It's NOT.
Other than that the probe works great for what I need it for.

It works great if the only thing you want is temp and pH. Unfortunately, I also require nitrate, in order to get all three you have to change electrodes. This is not always easy in the field.
