    • Q:

I recently purchased the Vantage Vue 6250. The only issue I'm having is rainfall accuracy during high winds from a northerly direction. I believe the anemometer cups may be deflecting rain away from the funnel?? Would it be possible to remove the currently installed cups and install a 6410 Anemometer away from the unit? I have the ISS placed 5' above the roof line (unobstructed) with the solar panel pointing due south.

You may not need to replace anything. One action you can take to verify if there is an issue or not is put another 4 in graduated rain cup next to it, for about 3 rain storms and average them out. This is because during high winds, rain can sometimes blow sideways and the cup won't get full readings. It is typically a normal phenomenon that can be corrected for due to normalizing the rainfall.

Do you have mounting drawings that I can down load for the FF-34542-64 anemometer>
Asked on 2/5/2013 by Gail from Santa Clara, CA

      1 answer

We have no drawings but it can hardly be easier. The base is bolted to a pole measuring from 1" up to 1 5/8" diameter using the supplied u-bolt. Per the instructions, point the arm of the anemometer due north, then fasten it down.

Alternatively, you may bolt the base flat face to a post or wall, using the lag bolts supplied. Again, point the arm due north. The included instructions should make this all clear to you.

I have the Vantage pro 2. What does it mean when the console says "rain rate alarm * "

      Thank you

      1 answer

It means that either you are having a cloud burst or there is an error in reporting the rate at which rain is falling.

    • Q:

Is the 34542-64 the correct replacement part for a Vantage Pro 2 weather station? And,
does it come with the long wire to connect it to the station? Anomometer on top point of house, station on deck.

Asked on 12/6/2010 by Gail from Bethany Beach, DE

      1 answer

Sku# 34542-64 is the actual replacement anemometer for a Pro2, including the 40' cable to the rest of the ISS.
