Comments about Davis Instruments 6510USB Software w/ Data Logging for Vantage Pro 2, USB:
Davis online information did not specify whether or not this software would work with Windows 10. It does. Read that in Q/A. I bought the USB version. The hardware or software would not recognize this as USB. I had to install this as a serial device. Found that information either in Q/A or other reviews online. The instructions with the software and online are not great. I don't think there is enough information about how to use this software. You kind of have to stumble through it. I am still a new user, so, much to learn. Also, with this type of communication, you need to have the console close to your computer to plug it in. I looked at the IP software and it was not wireless, so again you have to have a hard connection to your router. A wireless link would be fantastic.
As described- NWS downloads its data!

About Me Power User
I post current reading to the internet where it is accessible to anyone, and I know the National Weather Service (NOAA) downloads my data. The physical installation is a snap (literally- it snaps into place), but the software setup is dang near impossible. I gave up on the manual, and just set it up through dead reconning. One weird thin, I use the USB model, but my computer THINKS it in in COM 6. So I just set everything up as COM 6, and it has been running perfectly, 24/7, for about three months now. Search "K5KMC" for a look at my current data.

easy to install and use

I use this for my personal weather information and wanted to link up to have a REAL weather station for others in my area. The Davis weather site was easy to link to and set up. I cant say that for NOAA, CWOP, or WUNDER, I've spent hours trying to link to those sites (easy access, they say) and still havent gotten anywhere near being able to do that. But the Davis site is great!

Make a menu select to have larger optional display of numeric temp, rain, humidity wind speed, the display can overlay standard screen and be read across the room. make it one click to display, one click to return to main screen

Wireless....not

I am a full time RV'er and enjoy the wealth of information provided. I especially like the wireless capability which means no holes in my RV roof and no snaking a cable. Also when we move I can simply bring in the outside unit and not worry about loose cables. However, I wish DAVIS had provided a blue tooth option instead having to tether my pc to the receiving unit with a cable. I see this as a major inconvience.

This Software has Major Problems
By Norm2

WeatherLink software crashes frequently. I have lots of software on my PC and I rarely have any problems with any other product. WeatherLink crashes daily and I have checked everything in setup and everything appears fine. I like the Davis weather station but this software sucks.

Doesn't Work in Win 7
By Peter

From many unanswered comments on the web, the Weatherlink USB has had problems for well over five years.I find it reprehensible that Davis has not resolved such a longstanding and well-known problem.Serial connections and 32-bit computers are history! USB and 64-bit computers are today's technology.Get with the program, Davis !!!
