The 10-ft (3 m) micro-cable with solid-state probe permits doors to close on it.
Digital thermometers are inexpensive, easy-to-use instruments that display temperature in a fast-responding digital format. Digital thermometers come in pocket-sized, remote, wall, panel-mount and even tabletop versions. They typically have a stainless steel probe sheath with thermistor or diode sensor. Probes can have varying lengths and are even equipped with extension cables for difficult to access temperature measurement. Wireless thermometers are also available for remote digital temperature monitoring. NSF-approved thermometers are waterproof to allow complete sanitization and some even add antimicrobial protection. Pocket thermometers usually require a battery but are available solar-powered for temperature monitoring over an extended period of time. Dual-channel indicators can provide indoor/outdoor comparisons while min/max thermometers give a digital readout of highest and lowest temperatures read. Davis Instruments features general purpose digital thermometers from trusted brands including Extech, Taylor, Cole-Parmer, Oakton, Testo, and Comark. For more information about digital thermometers contact a Davis Application Specialist today. Model 94460-73 is supplied with a 5ml bottle probe specifically designed to fit in to a tray. The glass bottle probe is sealed and filled with patented nontoxic glycol solution, which protects the sensor from rapid temperature changes when refrigerator door is opened.

  • Q:

I understand that this thermometer is certified with the included probe and glycol-filled bottle. However, if certification does not matter, how often should one replace a glycol-filled bottle in principle? Does glycol maintain its reliability forever? So long as the seal is not broken on the bottle and/or the probe does not experience a traumatic episode, could the glycol-filled bottle remain serviceable indefinitely?
    Asked on 9/24/2013 by Steve

    1 answer

The glycol serves as an insulator so when you open the door to check the temperature the thermometer doesn't change as quickly and you get a better idea of the temp of the fridge/freezer when the door is closed, and or what the vaccine bottles are exposed to.
We have no shelf life on it or recommendation on changing it out.

  • Q:

what does the in/out mean on this thermometer?
Asked on 4/21/2011 by me from michigan

    1 answer

Since this thermometer has a programmable temperature alarm, the in/out is basically telling you the alarm status. Either the temperature is in range, or it is out of range.
