I am wondering how to calibrate this product.
If it is possible let me know.

      A:

This unit cannot be calibrated by the end-user. Such calibration would void the NIST certificate that comes with the unit. If you require NIST traceability or recalibration we suggest the purchasing of a new meter.

Comments about Digi-Sense Calibrated Kangaroo Thermocouple Thermometer:

We have purchased 3 of these thermometers. All 3 failed for the same reason. After a couple weeks of use they display wildly incorrect temperature readings. Room temperature shows up as 164F! Replacing the battery did not resolve the issue.

Comments about Digi-Sense Calibrated Kangaroo Thermocouple Thermometer:

seemed like a handy little thermometer for checking product temps (meat patties, etc) but of the 3 we purchased within the past 3 weeks, 2 of them have had the wire break right where it enters the probe casing. not very happy about that, there's [$] down the drain and counting.

Comments about Digi-Sense Calibrated Kangaroo Thermocouple Thermometer:

We have been using this thermometer in the kitchen for a year now. It's always in an easy-to-reach place. We test meat, bread, drinks, melted chocolate, the refrigerator, and anything else where temperature matters. We even use it to check the temperature of the house. After a year it still works great. (The toddler threw it down on the ceramic tile floor once; it didn't seem to hurt it) I love that we can wrap the cord up and it stays out of the way. I do wish that we could close the cord in the oven.

            Probe handle and wire melt

Comments about Digi-Sense Calibrated Kangaroo Thermocouple Thermometer:

Beware that the temperature rating of this instrument (-58 to 572 F) is NOT supported by the probe and wire as a whole. It only works if you immerse the tip in the test object. However, if you need to measure the temperature of something that is in a heater cavity (e.g., oven) by running the probe wire through the door seal, the probe handle and wire just melt down. I have a useless instrument now after the first use, as the probe is hard-wired and not replaceable.

Comments about Digi-Sense Calibrated Kangaroo Thermocouple Thermometer:

(3.5 stars)A user-friendly thermometer having a NIST certificate. Used it in the field for Ind WW sampling as a doublecheck of another field instrument. Had more faith in this then the "primary" instrument. The 'kangaroo' cord feature is a gimmick with a flimsy pop-out cord spool on the back that hides behind 2 equally flimsy compartment doors. I unwound the length i wanted once and just closed it up for good.

the on/off is a sensitive pushbutton--instrument will activate and stay on thereby draining the "watchcell-type" battery.
