Each module is supplied with an internal and external sensor. External sensor can be used under water and is supplier with a 10 ft. cable. Indoor receiver can be switched from °F to °C, outdoor module only reads in C. Supplied with Velcro®and bracket for wall mounting or has a flip-out stand for tabletop use.
Digital thermometers are inexpensive, easy-to-use instruments that display temperature in a fast-responding digital format. Digital thermometers come in pocket-sized, remote, wall, panel-mount and even tabletop versions. They typically have a stainless steel probe sheath with thermistor or diode sensor. Probes can have varying lengths and are even equipped with extension cables for difficult to access temperature measurement. Wireless thermometers are also available for remote digital temperature monitoring. NSF-approved thermometers are waterproof to allow complete sanitization and some even add antimicrobial protection. Pocket thermometers usually require a battery but are available solar-powered for temperature monitoring over an extended period of time. Dual-channel indicators can provide indoor/outdoor comparisons while min/max thermometers give a digital readout of highest and lowest temperatures read. Davis Instruments features general purpose digital thermometers from trusted brands including Extech, Taylor, Cole-Parmer, Oakton, Testo, and Comark. • Q:

These units come with a 2-year certified calibration, 3/25/15 to 3/25/17, but when we purchased them in November of 2016 it only effectively gave us certification for 5-months. Now, we must purchase new units to meet ISO requirements! Is there some way to get around this? Can we get updated certification documents to reflect when we purchased the units?
Asked on 3/28/2017 by Nork from Ithaca, Michigan

      A:

These units are NIST certified then placed on the shelf waiting for orders to be filled. This is how we are able to offer them at such an economical cost. The best way to ensure that you receive the most time out of your calibration is to order the 17101-61 in addition to the meter. You can then specify the calibration interval required. i.e. 12 months, 24 months. 36 months, etc.

  • Q:

Can you tell me what frequency this unit uses to transmit? Looking for one we can use in our RV, but need to make sure it doesn't conflict with other wireless transmitters we are already using for tire pressure monitor system and a refrigerator/freezer monitor.

    Hi
Does the alarm sound continuously while the humidity levels remain above the max settings ?
    Thx.

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

No, the alarm will activate for a short time when the setpoint is exceeded, but will not continuously sound; in order to conserve battery life.

  • Q:

do you have a wireless themometre that goes to over 100 degrees celcius?
Asked on 9/18/2013 by Martin from United Kingdom

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Please see 37486-15 with 37486-02 and 37486-03. Probes are sold separately. When choosing a probe, keep in mind this would be a Type K only thermometer that requires the color-coded mini-connector.

  • Q:

Regarding specifications of the product; the specs listed state both +/- 1°F, and +/- 1°C, yet 1°C is ~1.8°F... which is the true specification?

Also, I did not see the stated specification of Relative Humidity. What is the specification on Relative Humidity
Asked on 8/7/2013 by Kris from Oshkosh, WI

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The correct specification for the temperature accuracy is +/-1 deg/C. The accuracy for the humidity is +/-2% for the mid-range, other wise it is +/-4%.

  • Q:

I would like to have the sensor in an outside storage unit and be able to read it from inside the building would this be possible.the storage unit is within 100 feet of the building.
Asked on 2/13/2013 by Elaine from Lac La Hache BC

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The maximum range between the remote sensor and the base is 30m (98'), so 100' would be pushing the limits of its capability. This distance is also calculated from a line-of-sight measurement, so any interferences (walls, trees, etc) will diminish this value.

  • Q:

After changing batteries in a remote sensor, what are the steps I have to take to get it connected to the monitor?

      A:

      HOW TO RESET THE UNIT
Usually the reset function is required only when the unit is operating in an unfavorable say or
malfunctioning. Please try the following steps:
      To access:
      1. Lift open the battery compartment door.
      2. Insert a blunt stylus or the end of a paper clip into the hole marked RESET and
      press.
      3. Replace the battery compartment door.

The description says it monitors temperature continuously, but does it also monitor humidity. I am looking for a temperature and humidity monitor that I can put inside an exposure chamber and them monitor from outside the chamber.

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Yes, the remote sensor reports both temperature and humidity readings to the display. You can have as many as three remote sensors.

Comments about Digi-Sense Wireless Digital Thermometer and Humidity Set, 1 Remote Probe:

LAB ENGINEER EXPLAINED THAT BASE AND REMOTE UNITS ARE CALIBRATED TO A STANDARD. CAN HAPPEN THAT THE BASE UNIT PASSES ON ONE SIDE OF THE SPECS WHILE THE REMOTE UNIT PASSES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLUS AND MINUS SPECS. REMOTE UNITS ARE NOT MATCHED TO THE BASE UNITS. CONSEQUENTLY, REMOTES CAN BE OFF BY 3 TO 5% POINTS FROM THE BASE UNITS. RECOMMEND MATCHING REMOTES TO BASE UNITS FOR BETTER READINGS IN THE SAME ENVIRONMENT TO IMPROVE THE TRUST FACTOR AND CREDIBILITY.
