Extech controllers offer Fuzzy Logic enhanced PID and a Soft-Start feature that protects heaters from cold-starts. PID plus Fuzzy Logic tackles even the most demanding applications, eliminating over-shoot, unwanted process fluctuations, and drift. The Soft Start feature is ideally suited for processes, such as those employed in the Thermo-Plastics industry, where careful, exact, and slow heating of product is required.

Temperature and process controllers are integral to any process. Both the temperature controller and the process controller take input from sensors and transmitters and respond with output instructions to system components to deliver your desired results.

The simplest type of process controller is the on/off model. It will turn off a process when a specified preset level is reached and turn it back on when conditions reach the reset level. When you require flexibility, choose the proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. The PID controller can be tuned to provide an optimal response for a given process.

Temperature controllers are dedicated controllers with features such as multi-zone programming or ramp, hold, and cooling algorithms used in maintaining critical temperature profiles. The benchtop temperature controller typically includes a 120 volt output plug to control the power input to a heat generating device.

Davis Instruments offers temperature and process controllers including those from top industry brands such as Eurotherm, Red Lion, and Digi-Sense.

  • Q:

Hello, I work as a graduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and I had a question concerning one of the temperature controllers you offer. I was interested in purchasing the "Extech 1/16 DIN PID Temperature controller with one relay output" (Catalog # EW-89802-03). I was going to use it to power some heat tape I had. However, a colleague of mine informed me that I would also have to purchase a temperature probe along with the controller to use in conjunction with the heat tape. I was wondering if you could tell me if you offer any compatible temperature probes with the PID controller model that I am looking at? If you do, could you direct me to their catalog number? Thank you very much for your help.

There is not a specific probe that goes with the controller besides needing to be stripped wires. It could be a RTD or Thermocouple. I think you would be also happier going with the benchtop temperature controller where you can change the temperature such as 36225-66 or 36225-90
