  • Q:

What is the highest temperature liquid that I can flow through the tubing. For my application the tubing would be stationary.
Asked on 2/29/2016 by Dieter the engineer

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The highest temperature liquid you can flow through this tubing is 100 C (dynamic - while pumping) and 230 C while stationary/not being pumped.

  • Q:

What is the wall thickness of this particular tubing?
Asked on 6/17/2015 by Ben from United States

    2 answers

    • A:

It's not proprietary- it can be easily measured, but some people are too lazy to do so. It has wall thickness of 1/8", OD of 5/8"

Answered on 11/11/2015 by Chris from Chicago, IL
    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The wall thickness and outer diameter of all Masterflex tubing, including this particular tubing, is proprietary and we do not have that information.

  • Q:

Is this tubing compatible with Sodium Acetate Trihydrate?
What kind of tubing should be instead of it if not compatible?
    Thanks.
Asked on 10/8/2013 by Kin Hung from Hong Kong

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Silicone is not recommended; Tygon would be a better option but an immersion test is recommended. A tubing test kit is available as item# 00101-10.

  • Q:

How much volume of water would one foot of the tubing hold?
Asked on 10/6/2013 by Scott from United States

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The I/P 73 tube has an inner diameter of .37 inches. To calculate the total volume in one foot, we would use the equation V = hπr². h = the length of the tube (12"), π = 3.14, and r = .185. (12")(3.14)(0.185²) = 1.289598 inches cubed. This is then converted to 21.1327mL.

  • Q:

What is the heat transfer coefficient of this tubing?
Asked on 9/26/2013 by Scott from United States

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The heat transfer coefficient or thermal conductivity is not a parameter or a specification that is tested for. Unfortunately there is no specific data that we can provide for this.

In general the thermal conductivity of silicone rubber is about 0.2. W/mΩ·K.

  • Q:

Is this compatable with Toluene? if not, is there anything compatable other then Viton Tubing?
Asked on 2/16/2011 by Anonymous from La Porte

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Unfortunately platinum-cured silicone tubing is not compatible with toluene (it has a "D" rating which would mean that there would be severe softening, swelling, and/or shrinkage). The only 2 types of tubing that it is compatible with for this size of tubing is either Viton tubing or Chem-Sure tubing (96412-73 for Viton and 96212-73 for Chem-Sure).
Please contact us if you need additional help in selecting the appropriate tubing for your application (Contact information can be found under the Contact Us section on our website).

  • Q:

How many sterilization cycles does masterflex 26 tubing resist ?what is the differential p[ressure i can apply while operating the peristaltic pump?
    Asked on 12/29/2010 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The tubing was tested for 25 cycles, at 15 psi for 30 minutes and 121C autoclave conditions, without notable changes in the tubing. This tubing has a maximum continuous pressure rating of 25 psi, with up to 40 psi spikes. Differential pressures should not exceed the maximum pressures listed.

  • Q:

This page seems to suggest this is gamma-irradiated as supplied - can you confirm that or is it just saying that its gamma irradiatable?
    Thanks
Asked on 3/24/2010 by Eve from Grangemouth, UK

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

We apologize for the confusion. This specification actually represents that the product can be sterilized by gamma irradiation. It does not mean that it comes gamma-irradiated as supplied.
Please contact us if you have any further questions.
