  • Q:

What is the approximate OD of this tubing?
    Asked on 11/16/2016 by George

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The OD of the Masterflex tubing is proprietary.

  • Q:

It's stated that the L/S size tubing requires a "break-in" period for good flow stability. Is the "break-in" just running the operational rotor speed for the recommended 15-20 minutes on empty tubing? Also, does the "break-in" only need to be done once for the tubing or does the tubing need to be re-broken in after ~30-60 minutes of no use?
    Asked on 10/4/2016 by delaHeeba

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Optimum results are best obtained after tubing has been broken in
by running in pump for at least 10 minutes without any fluid being passed through the tubing. This is recommended to be done as needed whenever using a new segment of tubing. This does not need to be done again after every 30 to 60 minutes of use.

  • Q:

Does this tubing exhibit compatibility with phospholipids / liposomes? If not, do you have a recommended tubing that does?
Asked on 2/3/2016 by Analytically Inquisitive Kate

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

We do not have chemical compatibility for this tubing and the chemicals specified. I would recommend testing a piece of the tubing in your solution before proceeding with the application. We do offer samples. This tubing is generally used for Pharmaceutical, biotech, peristaltic pumping, and food applications.

  • Q:

Does it have an expire date? I'm afraid that I can't use all 7 meters in a short time. So I wonder if it can be stored for a long time, maybe 2 years I think.

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Shelf life is 36 months from date of manufacture when properly stored in original, unopened container.

  • Q:

Do you sell the fluid diffusers for the end of this tubing. They are round, some are metal. If your are perfusing saline using one of your mmsterflex pumps and this tubing, one end of the tubing goes into the saline and has a weighted diffuser at the end for the liquid and its uptake into the tubing. What is the part # for these and their proper name? Thanks
Asked on 9/25/2015 by David from Indy

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

I believe you are looking for a tubing weight like 78226-81.

  • Q:

HI CP. What are the part numbers for couplers associated with this tubing (needle tips and butterfly syringes) and diffusers for solution pumping? Thanks. David Tingley
Asked on 9/25/2015 by David from Indy

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

This tubing has an ID of 1/8". This will take a 1/8" hose barb fitting. Unfortunately, we do not carry butterfly valves, but we carry adapters. Item 30800-08 is 1/8" hose barb X female luer. Item 30800-24 is 1/8" hose barb X male luer lock.

  • Q:

What is the wall thickness of this tubing?
    Asked on 9/9/2015 by Chris

    2 answers

    • A:

I have one in front of me, and it looks to have an OD of .250" as measured with my calipers. They give ID, but I can't find a spec for tolerance on OD or Wall.

Answered on 8/16/2016 by Derek from Boston, MA
    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The outer diameter and wall thickness of Masterflex tubing is proprietary information.

Used this a main tubing for our drip flow reactor. We cleaned with liquid antibacterial after every run and autoclaved it before and after every run. The tubing held up well in the treatment
