  • Q:

I need this kind of H2 detector to monitor the H2 level at the ventilation line connected to organic synthesis chamber. The exhaust contains lots of N2, several hundreds ppm of xylene and isopropylalcohol. Is this detector useful under the conditions?
Asked on 11/10/2013 by Marelli from Japan

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

The cross interference of 1000 PPM Iso-Propane Alcohol (IPA) is even less than 1000 PPM of Hydrogen. This means the signal from 1000 PPM IPA is even less than 2% of the full scale of 20,000 PPM. The Sensor detector needs Oxygen percentage of 2% or more in the Air.

  • Q:

Can the instrument detect hydrogen alone or both hydrogen and hydrocarbon
Asked on 11/7/2013 by DRI shipping from Trinidad and Tobago

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

This detector will detect Hydrogen gas at PPM (very sensitive) range. It will detect Hydrogen gas as low as 10 PPM. We provide the range 0-20,000 PPM, which will cover Hydrogen gas for PPM and % LEL indication. (50% LEL is 20,000 PPM for Hydrogen). This sensor will pick up other Hydrocarbons vapor. But, it has more signal from Hydrogen than Hydrocarbons vapor.

  • Q:

Can I use this instrument to measure dissolved hydrogen gas?

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

No. This detector is designed to measure H2 in air as a remote area monitor for this explosive gas.

  • Q:

I'm considering purchasing this meter to find Hydrogen leaks at pipe flanges. Will the sensor be able to handle a 100% hit of H2 and quickly recover?
Asked on 3/30/2011 by Don from Illinois

    1 answer

    • STAFF EXPERT

      A:

Yes, the unit can handle a 100% spike of H2. It won't be give a reading but you won't damage the sensor. It will be able to recover once it receives a reading within it's range.
